We hear about it much of the time... Certain people, past and present, who have predicted when the world will end. Some have said the current troubles visited upon us by our bleak economic condition is marking the "end of times!" Let me set the record straight, here and now...NOBODY can say when this world will pass. It will take place when God alone decides; in fact, we are told not even the Son (Christ Jesus) knows that day!
If we turn to Matt.24:36-39, Jesus tells us "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be with the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."
Why do you suppose God will not reveal this information to us? Well, for one, if we knew the exact day and hour of Jesus' return, the events of the entire world would rain chaos in the streets! People scrambling to receive the Savior; others running to hide from Him. Some would frantically seek baptisim for that very "last minute" salvation; others would engage in riotous activities such as rape, robbery, looting, and other things, in crazed desparation before the end of all things comes to pass.
